At 275 miles the N-C-O was one of the largest narrow gauges. Broad gauged in 1927. Butter from the Sierra Valley dairies required passenger service handling so as not to be delayed making the transfer at Reno to the Virginia & Truckee for the run to Virginia City. The N-C-O ran these green boxcars on passenger car trucks. Authentic N-C-O herald makes an even handsomer car.
