Subsidiary Linnville River had a number of yellow boxcars. In summer it hauled most of Tweetsie’s passenger fares—summer vacationers bound for the cool heights atop the Blue Ridge Mountains. Largest station stop was Boone, which was accessible only by rail. Children hearing the high pitched ’tweet’ whistles of the engines hit on the nickname “Tweetsie”. Crews balked, but the name stuck to become the beloved handle remembered today. Free lance logo.
